Payroll Manager Recruitment

Payroll Managers are expected to oversee and supervise the company's payroll functions. They work with Human Resources to design and operate payroll systems, directing collections, and gather employee time data.


The Payroll Manager's Role

After years of Payroll Manager recruitment experience, JMF Associates has found that the role has evolved. They must do more than determine and dispense salaries.

Payroll Managers must also act as administrative personnel that can restructure the payroll system to improve the workflow. They must also be highly knowledgeable in legislation pertaining to payrolls and required benefits and other regulations. This keeps the company legally compliant in its tax responsibilities.

Experienced Payroll Managers also audit the payroll system, recommend improvements, and implement new processes when necessary.
For example, suppose a Payroll Manager has experience working with timekeeping platforms and software to streamline the payroll system. In that case, they can recommend implementation throughout the whole company. Furthermore, they need to train their personnel in its usage.


Duties and Responsibilities

• Collect and collate payroll source data. Must be able to draft weekly, monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial reports for payroll
• Review and implement payroll policies, procedures, and benefit plans. They must also handle all related documentation
• Oversee and organise employee data, maintain accurate account balances, ensure all information and records are correct
• Investigate and resolve issues related to payroll and compensation
• Ensure that payroll is dispensed on time
• Direct and manage the Payroll department's workflow and assign tasks as needed. They are also expected to review their department's performance. They must provide training and support for staff.
• Audit the payroll and compensation process, providing specific recommendations for improvements as necessary


Eligibility and Qualifications

• Three to five years of related experience. Prior supervisory or management experience in the field is preferred
• Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Accounting, or other related fields is required
• Extensive knowledge of payroll processes, including preparation, internal control, and taxes
• Proficient in the use of payroll software such as Gusto, QuickBooks, OnPay, ADP, etc. Must also be proficient in Microsoft Office applications
• Experience in drafting financial reports
• Proficient knowledge in laws and regulations about employee taxation
• Ability to work independently, with excellent attention to detail and capable of strictly meeting deadlines
